Job Description

Chief of Staff – Software Engineering

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:
• Leading strategic planning events
• Creating and updating reports / dashboards for reviewing key performance metrics

Financial Management / Staffing
• Provide business case analysis and support, as needed
• Partner with finance to enable fiscal reporting (planning, budgeting, performance)

Human Resources
• Oversee execution of staffing strategy /plans including recruitment
• Reviewing organizational structure, identifying any gaps, and facilitating filling them

Project & Portfolio Management
• Lead Special Projects as needed.
• Maintain the overview of the team’s self-improvement activities.

Communication
• Develop and manage team level communications
• Promote ongoing alignment across stakeholder groups
• Direct support to the Vice President – Software Engineering
• Assisting with prioritization, time management and identifying areas of focus
• Meeting preparation
• Serve as a sounding board
• Identify key success factors / skills for members of the team
• Meeting minutes / action plans / follow ups
 

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Experience as a manager and leader within a Technology function
• Proven excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proven excellent interpersonal skills and ability to listen em-pathetically
• Time management skills and ability to multitask effectively
• Proven ability to keep top-level confidence
• Ability to pay attention to details and to work based on available data and not guesswork
• Ability to be flexible both in relation to job-specification and schedules
• Ability to handle conflict in a rapidly changing environment
