Quality Assurance Engineer – BI/DW/ETL

The Software Quality Assurance Engineer is primarily responsible for testing our Datawarehouse, ETL, and reporting products, and will also help support testing of other applications throughout the product development lifecycle. S(he) will analyze business requirements, define test approaches, and document results. Additionally, the Software Quality Assurance Engineer will work closely with the members of other departments to understand IT related issues, as well as managing and responding to Software Quality Assurance issues with related groups.

  • Define, develop, implement and execute reusable, flexible, accurate and well-documented testing artifacts; this includes test cases, specifications, tools and other technical documentation based on defined workflows, use cases, and business requirements
  • Help determine the root cause of issues and work with development team to resolve those issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist in managing and maintaining QA environment and test equipment, including performing the necessary configuration changes to the test environment for product release
  • Coordinate with Product Development and/or Technology teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Continually improve knowledge of methodologies, products, and tools to ensure that quality assurance process follows best practices, promoting innovation and adoption of new technologies when applicable

  • Minimum of 5 years of Software testing experience, with data validation using complex SQL a must.
  • Clear understanding of data warehouse concepts based on experience, creating test cases and test scripts for data warehouse testing, including data completeness testing, boundary testing, data validation based on data models and using source to target mapping, validation of transformations, fact and dimensional data.
  • Desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality, and reliability
  • Proficiency with databases and writing complex SQL queries. Create and maintain complex SQL queries such as JOINS (all types), aggregations, groupings, etc.
  • Outstanding organizational and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Very strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis abilities.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’ s Degree in Information Systems, Business, Accounting, other related fields or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Strong knowledge of SQL. Ability to write complex queries
  • Datawarehouse/ETL experience
  • 5 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Automated testing experience a plus
  • Experience with Tableau a plus
