Test Architect

This role works to ensure that approaches, tools and techniques are built into a relevant methodology. The incumbent will help monitor, optimize, mentor, collaborate and continually improve the test team.

• Understanding and analyzing the technology used with the aim of defining and implementing solutions to meet the test requirements and systems architecture in consideration of long-term improvement of the organization testing process and growth 
• Reviewing requirements, specifications and technical design documents and determine the types of testing needed 
• Combining various test approaches and applying the best design techniques, adding value by ensuring the best test coverage across architecture and working towards closing gaps in test coverage through existing or new test infrastructures 
• Collaborating with other teams to plan for new feature development that will impact testing scope, require new approaches to testing and automation, and ensure quality is delivered alongside the development of each new feature and service 
• Possessing broad awareness of testing approaches, practices and techniques in order to help design and deliver the overall testing methodology used by the team 
• Monitoring the effectiveness of the testing function and bring about improvements through insights gained via analysis at all stages of the SDLC 
• Identifying what tools and technologies can be implemented, aligning with existing tools across the broader development function and in-line with the skill-set of the team 
• Collaborating in the design and development of the test automation framework, harnesses and code libraries to enable the team to both use and enhance them across releases 
• Assuming responsibility for test infrastructure including environments and software, liaising with teams such as Environment and Development 
• Providing technical know-how, documentation and training to test and other business functions 
• Keeping up to speed on process, practice and technology developments to ensure they are leveraged and enhance the solutions applied to the testing problems 

• Experience working on a SAP implementation project and with cross functional teams 
• Approximately two years’ experience in testing SAP 
• Knowledge of major SAP modules including BI 
• Experience with risk-based testing – identifying /selecting the critical components and processes that must be tested when time constraints impede a more comprehensive testing approach 
• Experience in performing impact analysis of the proposed system changes to help assess the nature and extent of testing 
• Experience in leveraging decision tree and equivalent analyses to help optimize the design of test cases and the overall testing 
• Experience in working with technical and development teams to decide on appropriate solutions to testing 
• Experience and knowledge of major programming languages and technologies 
• Experience with formal testing phases (i.e. functional, integration, end-to-end, regression) 
• Experience in designing test cases based on functional specifications, business requirements and other documentation 
• Experience in collaborating with the development and functional teams to solidify the testing scope as well as providing comprehensive details to facilitate timely resolution of defects 
• Experience in collaborating with Test Automation Developers and Performance testers to facilitate robust automated scripts 
• Experience in presenting testing results and demonstrating issues encountered 
• Experience in identifying appropriate data requirements for smooth execution of test cases 
• Good knowledge and experience in working with ALM’ s modules (i.e. Requirements, Test Plan, Test Lab, Analysis and Defects) 
• Knowledge of ALM’ s special functionality (e.g. test configuration, call to test, test parameters) is preferred 
• Experience in eliciting project requirements from business and technical stakeholders 
• Partnering with technical teams to gain a better understanding of the solution 
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels 
• Ability to communicate key decisions and corresponding impacts to team members 
• Curious with a skeptical mindset that drives the need to exercise due diligence in validating system behavior 
• Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team 
• Strong aptitude to understand the business processes 
• Willing to ask appropriate questions to understand the solution, scope and identify possible gaps, opportunities and challenges
