Job Description


The Data Analyst- Purchasing/Supply Chain  compiles data, develops and distributes reports and partners with the global purchasing and operations team.   

Primary Responsibilities:
  •   Develop an understanding of applicable data sources, tables and data relationships across systems
  • Utilize systems (Excel, Access, Power Point, etc.) to develop operational and business related metrics and reports as required
  • Conduct rigorous internal “ spend” analytics for several categories (working with purchasing and operations team members) that can  identify usage patterns
  • Build financial “ models” as required to baseline and forecast spend, understand variations etc.
  • Create/Edit and use “ tools” (like category performance database, dashboards) to identify issues and assist making purchasing decisions
  • Work with purchasing team, operations team and  subject matter experts to define reporting requirements over various time periods
  • Assist purchasing team in preparation of  RFI, RFQ, RFP, pricing, analysis and savings worksheet
  • Additional duties as assigned

  Education/Certifications:
  • BS/BA from four-year college with 5+ years relevant experience – in a Quantitative field like Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Statistics etc.
  • Experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain preferred
  • MS/MBA preferred

Required Skills:
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, (pivots, v-lookups, graphs, ability to write macros etc.)
  • Project Management skills
  • Team collaboration skills in a matrixed environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Access and Power Point a plus
  • High level of “ quantitative” aptitude which can detect patterns in spend, outliers in compliance, and supporting financial “ models”
  • Good understanding and experience in Purchasing practices
  • Superior problem solving skills and ability to work with cross functional departments
  • Excellent communication and social skills
  • Strong ability to make appropriate assumptions and develop accurate analytic model.
  • Strong ability to multi-task in challenging timelines.
