Database Administrator III



The qualified candidate will assert him/herself into complex project assignments where he/she will represent the Database team which is part of larger Application development team in all dialogue and decisions around the architecture, deployment, and/or management of database environments. The individual will also take a role in the definition of operational best practices and automation of operational tasks. The candidate will be challenged in a fast-paced environment that requires prioritizing multiple high priority incidents and problems. Teamwork is essential to this role and experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies is desired.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Proficient in SQL Development and Code, ability to troubleshoot SQL Code and Design, including Stored Procedures, functions, tables, and constraints.
  • Recommend optimization tactics to improve performance.
  • Influence optimization efforts by engaging with development team early in design and development stage of the project.
  • Recommend and implement Industry best practices for creating Indexes and indexing strategy.
  • Strong understanding and experience of Advanced Stored Procedures, including data flow and logic in complex stored procedures to bypass issues and optimize as needed.
  • Thorough understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) to troubleshoot and resolve File Loading failures.
  • High emphasis on Dev (Code) DBA skills
  • Requires very strong TSQL skillset. Create and debug complex stored procedures and triggers. Must be proficient with multi-table joins and schema. Create reports on demand
  • Apply corrections and adjustments to Database records while adhering to Industry Best Practice methods
  • Experience working with Application development teams to resolve high visibility and high priority issues.
  • Experience and understanding of 3rd Party Applications such as Splunk, Subversion and Rally.
  • Exceptional communication skills (Verbal and Written)


Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’ s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • A Master’ s Degree in similar fields is highly desirable
  • Related work experience can be substituted for education requirements
  • Strong Knowledge of SQL Server
  • MS SQL Server DBA Certification is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in MS SQL Database Production Support Enterprise Environment
