Job Description

The Director of DevOps will provide leadership, team development, technical acumen, and strategic vision for transforming the Operations team . This includes understanding public, private, infrastructure as a service and platform as a service

cloud operations. This position will work closely with the engineering and business organizations to design and develop the deployment and monitoring solutions for a wide variety of mission critical systems and services. This position will deliver measurable improvements in the quality and availability of services as well as drive process improvements informed by objective data.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with engineering and the business to define development and operations strategy and then deliver against those expectations.
Drive the process in which our DevOps team operates and iterates
Define deployment and operations metrics and monitors to assure efficiency and reliability across all systems.
Instill in team members the attitude and desire to improve the services delivered to customers
Monitor critical metrics and maintain executive-facing dashboards to track progress and drive improvements across the portfolio of standards.
Define monitoring and log aggregation platforms
Define and/or implement tooling to make developers more productive and to allow easy interaction with production
Define and/or implement all CI and CD pipelines. Lead, manage and participate in writing the automation.
Generally responsible for creating “ Infrastructure as Code” for the enterprise
Ensure adherence to operations processes, revise processes as needed
Lead crisis, problem, and incident management processes and drive improvements
Foster accountability across infrastructure and development teams by establishing standards, objectively measuring results, and transparently communicating results
Develop team members’ skills and abilities
Perform essential management duties
EDUCATION DESIRED:

Bachelor’ s degree in a technical field. MS or MBA desirable.

 

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

5+ years experience leading teams including subordinate managers
15+ years technical operations experience working with transactional websites and products
Hands-on management of CI/CD pipeline systems.
Working knowledge of several configuration management systems (Chef, Ansible, Puppet, Salt…)
Working knowledge of several monitoring tools and frameworks (Splunk ELK, Nagios…)
Container orchestration
Experience working in Microsoft .Net Stack
VSTS, Git, Pipelines, Releases
A history of success through levels of increasing responsibility
Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with peers
Especially with software development and support teams
Proven track record of managing modern cloud platforms in a 24x7 setting
Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations
Experience working in an agile software development organization
Good interpersonal skills and communication
