Job Description

The IT applications manager is responsible for managing the operational support, maintenance, and development activities for business applications. The position combines managerial responsibilities with in-depth hands-on technical expertise. The manager is responsible for appropriate staffing, staff management, performance management, and continuous service improvement.

Analyze the structure and flow of the business’ work to identify possible application solutions. Responsible for feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs. Ultimately this person manages the implementation project and is responsible for the success of the solution both initially and moving forward. As required, software implementations will be COTS, custom and hybrid architecture.

Additionally, this role is responsible for the overall Data Management, Analysis and Reporting.  Our business leverages data for many core aspects of business and as such requires data analysis and report development on a continuous basis. This person will need to be very comfortable in SQL merging data from disparate systems to provide a clear and actionable story for users at every level within the Organization. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the overall health and performance of the IT systems.
  • Implementation, utilization, maintenance and second tier user support for information technology applications including PDI Wholesale, FocalPoint, ACT!, Office 365, FuelMaster, along with other minor applications. Experience with any/all of those applications is a plus, not required.
  • Coordinate with vendors who support applications to perform updates, manage projects and seek advanced support when needed.
  • Coordinate with third party IT support group to ensure companies priorities and environment quality is maintained.
  • In cooperation with leadership team, work with all departments and end-users to integrate needs, provide training and provide second level of support.
  • Communicate regularly with the leadership team concerning project status and timeline.
  • Design, develop and manage complex reports
  • Work with users in identifying business process requirements and recommend solutions
  • Facilitate the testing, implementation, user-documentation and training
  • Support business users through data collecting, reporting, analysis and related projects
  • Lead the planning and implementation of projects
  • Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Define project tasks and resource requirements
  • Develop full scale project plans
  • Manage project budget and resource allocation
  • Manage network administration support
  • Plan and schedule project timelines
  • Provide direction and support to staff
  • Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions to senior management
  • Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies
