IT Hardware Asset Analyst


RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain processes for managing and tracking IT hardware assets and their maintenance life cycle from procurement to retirement
• Update procedures for effective asset life cycle management (acquisition, deployment, utilization, de-installation, reallocation, decommission and disposal) of IT assets.
• Use reports to ensure adherence to ITAM standards, processes and procedures
• Reports on and acts upon the process metrics reported
• Resolve compliance exceptions in the environment and responsible to ensure corrective actions are taken to address any non-compliance in the process
• Identifies deficiencies and action plans to address
• Ensure the asset methods and processes are properly approved and communicated to appropriate teams before being implemented.
• Accountable to ensure all individuals who work in the process (IT, mailroom, procurement) are trained to enable them to perform their function effectively
• Perform proper research to understand issues, and provide proper guidance to support teams
• Provide technical expertise and support for projects and audits
• Ensures all Asset/CIs are accurately registered or deregistered
• Participates in process improvement efforts
• Maintain accuracy of IT hardware data which includes but not limited to Discovery vs. CMDB reconciliation, update of Product Catalog, Normalization etc.
• Ensures that IT Standards are used to normalize the product information supporting IT Asset Management
• Ensure data accuracy of Assets and their attributes (statuses and locations) in ITAM Tool as well as in CMDB
• Identifies data quality problems related to deficiencies in systems, applications, data stores and processes.
• Accountable for improving the data quality of the information domain they oversee
• Identifies opportunities to improve or reengineer the ITAM process as it relates to creating and managing data
• Works closely with the IT Asset Owner / Manager(s), CMDB Manager / Analyst to ensure integrity of hardware data
• Identifies opportunities for process enhancements and efficiency gains
• Liaise with other functions to establish quality improvement
• Respond to requests from end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Asset Management data information


REQUIREMENTS - MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE

• 5 + years of experience with IT Asset Management
• Proven conceptual, problem solving and analytical skills, ability to communicate sound technical advice to clients, managers and technical staff
• Working knowledge of asset management processes and procedures
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments supporting business as usual, user request as well as special projects
• Able to effectively communicate and display a professional, mature attitude in dealing with internal customers, management and personnel across the organization
• Working knowledge of Interface of ITAM processes with CMDB
• Experienced working with ITAM Tools like BMC Client Management (Foot Prints), BMC Discovery (ADDM) & Remedy
• Experienced working with Visio
• Microsoft Office Proficiency with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, functions etc.)
• Proven researching ability


EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, TRAINING

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology or related and relevant experience
• ITIL V3 Foundations Certification (preferred but not required)
• IAITAM Certification (preferred but not required)
