Mechanical Engineer
Location: Herndon, VA


Engineering support and technical leadership over requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, design sensitivity/optimization studies, preliminary and final design, design documentation, and assembly/integration and testing. 

Labor skills and personnel requirements:  
- Candidate must have experience in 3D modeling, critical HW design and development and the ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplined team environment.
- Active Top-Secret Clearance with an up to date SSBI (Adjudicated within the last 5-6 years).   Active means the individual has been briefed or had access to TS information within the last two years.
- Bachelor’ s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics or a related field with a minimum of two years experience.
In addition to these requirements, checking as many of the following boxes would add value:
- Experience in design or development of precision mechanisms and mechatronic systems.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo and understanding of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards.
- Experience in additive manufacturing, part optimization and design for manufacture and assembly a plus
- Experience with actuators, custom gear trains, fluid systems, electro-optical systems, materials testing, and manufacturing processes are all a plus.
- Technical leadership experience and a history of successful designs and/or working systems
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret requirements and common government specifications
- Skilled in independently balancing a fair work load, managing priorities, maintaining a commitment to quality standards, overcoming obstacles, and achieving results
- Organizational skills to work with a variety of people in different disciplines, working from multiple locations on tasks involving rapidly changing information
- Strong communications skills both written and oral as well as presentation skills to communicate information effectively to both internal and external customers, managers and technical staff
