As the Quantum Offering Incubation Materials Science and Simulation Specialist, you will explore Quantum Computing and Quantum technologies in a technical capacity to help drive the capabilities of this next generation Consulting offering, with a focus on Quantum applications for material science use cases. This role includes leading technical research and driving strategic discussions to cultivate new offering ideas and substantiate client business challenges, key value drivers, and competitive advantages.


  • Lead technical research focused on developing new concepts, writing project proposals, and developing new technologies for our clients with regards to Quantum Computing and other quantum technologies (chemical materials, quantum information and hardware, etc.)
  • Understand technical capabilities of Quantum Computing and related technologies to contribute to a roadmap for future use of these capabilities
  • Work with cross-industry leaders to identify business use cases enabled by Quantum technologies
  • Support the development and delivery of Quantum Labs (i.e., “advanced” levels) to help our clients’ technical and scientific teams understand how to think about – and consider leveraging – quantum technologies related to materials and atomic science and simulations
  • Ability to perform simulation and modelling to inform experiments


  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Masters or PhD in Condensed Applied Physics, Matter Physics, Atomic Physics, Solid State Chemistry, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Expertise with simulation of materials/fermions using quantum computing techniques
  • Deep experience in atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics to design, develop, and perform experiments in a laboratory environment, and apply the results to the development of a mature product
  • Deep knowledge and experience with basic, theoretical and applied aspects of materials, their utilization, and their electronic, physical, mechanical, and chemical properties in relation to their structure
  • Experience with quantum materials, devices, and quantum simulation
  • Proficient in a scientific programming environment (i.e. one or more of Julia, Python, Mathematica, MATLAB)
  • Strong understanding of system engineering and integration
  • Curiosity and capability to research and learn new techniques or technical topics, as needed
  • Experience developing and giving presentations to senior executives both technical and non-technical


  • Demonstrated experience in quantum electronic materials’ design, synthesis, and characterizations
  • A good understanding of the physics of superconducting, trapped ions, and topological quantum materials and systems
  • Experience utilizing quantum gates, quantum algorithms and quantum simulations
  • Familiarity with a variety of quantum computing architectures and algorithms
  • Demonstrated record of publications in high-impact journals related to quantum materials
