Job Description

Scrum Master
The right candidate must possess the ability to respond to a fast paced, rapidly changing dynamic environment, have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicts constructively with a positive attitude, energy and enthusiasm. As a Scrum Master/ Agile Project Manager, you will lead key initiatives to deliver project objectives for medium to large sized agile projects and responsible for coaching and assisting key business users (product owners) with backlog creation, grooming and prioritization.

  • Actively partner with Delivery Managers (RTE or VSE) in order to provide clear directional status and risk/issue escalation that may impact committed PI deliverables.
  • Ensure the development teams are practicing the Agile principles and SCRUM Best Practices
  • Facilitate Daily standups, Iteration/Sprint planning, mid sprint reviews, Iteration/Sprint demos and retrospective meetings for multiple teams
  • Identify, own and remove impediments for team on a daily basis. Reach out to the organization network to remove impediments before they become blockers
  • Responsible for identifying sprint and project risks and offering any potential mitigation strategies
  • Track metrics of team progress, productivity and use the metrics to help the team get better
  • Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and Stakeholders to facilitate release management across teams to coordinate release scheduling
  • Provide all support to the team using servant leadership and leading by example
  • Understand technical nature of the issues to be able to help resolve the impediments
  • Assessing the Scrum maturity of the team and coaching the team for higher levels of maturity
  • Serve as a coach while empowering team self-organization and self-management
  • Cultivate robust and sustainable working relationships between business and technology teams to foster a cross-functional team environment
  • Promote and evangelize Agile across the organization and coach individual team members and teams to prepare more change agents
  • Make recommendations for continuous improvement to enhance effectiveness and play active role in organization agile transformation

Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of IT project management experience
  • 3+ years of experience as Scrum Master in coaching/leading teams
  • Highly functional with Jira (Administrator preferred)
  • Use of any tools (VersionOne, Confluence, etc)
  • Ability to drive accountability and agile adoption
  • Ability to understand technical issues at a high level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to negotiate with the stakeholders and coach the teams
  • Management of teams in a cross-functional structure
  • Strong sense of ownership and commitment to execution

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Lean and Kanban process improvements
  • Experience working on transformational projects
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Exposure to Scaled Agile Framework
  • Scrum Master Certification, PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner, or SAFe Practitioner
  • Experience working with offshore teams
  • Experience in software engineering, product owner or QA functions
  • Education: Bachelor’ s Degree or relevant work experience
