Job Description

Senior IT Security Engineer

Implement, test, and support all information security technologies, processes, and procedures. Conduct, as required, incident response and investigations. Assist and collaborate with project/application teams as needed to provide consultative and design services. Perform on-call duties as required.




  1. Performs daily information security activities, included but not limited to system monitoring, log reviews, ticket handling, and policy reviews.

  1. Performs information security projects as directed by coordinator.

  1. Conducts security and risk analysis of proposed new or upgraded systems. Reports issues and recommends resolutions.

  1. Conducts security and risk analysis of third parties. Reports issues and recommends resolutions.

  1. Designs system upgrades or expansions to support hospital growth and resolve issues. Works with appropriate vendors to obtain quotes. Presents design options and recommendations to IS management.

  1. Researches and resolves problems and questions regarding information security specific devices as well as other hardware and software used in the Northside network. Works with vendor technical support personnel to resolve production or testing issues

  1. Provides support to Information Systems or external personnel to resolve issues caused by information security infrastructure or systems including, but not limited to, redirecting users attempting actions that violate policies.

  1. Leads development of security and operational procedures and processes to conform to proper change management techniques. Modifies and implements new methods as appropriate.

  1. Maintains current inventory records of security infrastructure equipment and connectivity documentation. Maintains business continuity / disaster recovery equipment and procedures ready to deploy.


  1. Produces daily and monthly reports for departmental and related functions, routinely tests systems, and provides organized documentation. Maintains downtime log to document security infrastructure outages.

  1. Ensures security policies and procedures are followed by all network users. Notify supervisor or other IS management of suspected risks or actual violations.

  1. Provides on-call support of technical infrastructure and devices as required.

  1. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury? accident to Manager.
