Job Description

Sr Infrastructure Engineer

Areas of Responsibility Infrastructure Strategy

Responsible for:

• Identification and communication with key business partners to identify needs and communicate capabilities • Development and maintenance of strategies for infrastructure systems • Maintaining a current understanding of industry best-practice architecture and considerations • Ensuring that solution implementation processes consider all affected parties • Participating in enterprise-wide design and architecture discussions as a trusted expert • Providing APG a competitive advantage with technology solutions 

Infrastructure/ Environmental Engineer

Responsible for:

• Development and maintenance of service design and framework documentation • Identification of key metrics that can be tracked and optimized over a systems lifecycle • Developing conceptual design, flowcharts, and diagrams to illustrate sequence of steps required for technical implementations • Ensuring solution designs are value-oriented • Validation that solution designs conform to reference architecture • Continually driving system and process improvements • Prioritizing technical solution needs • Assisting/Reviewing technical designs and configuration templates with other team members • Technical coordination of domain-specific Infrastructure/ Environmental Engineer and design groups • Communicating strategy, engineering, and designs

Infrastructure Management

Delivers reliable and quality infrastructure into the production environment, while meeting the following objectives:

• Collecting and analyzing key metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and proactive response • Develop and maintain process and procedures for capacity management • Ensuring infrastructure firmware and operating systems are up to date • Auditing deployed systems to ensure compliance with reference architectures

Experience Requirements:

Requirements include but may not be limited to the following:

• Retail Industry Experience in designing large scale architecture to support 500zero+ sites is preferred • 7+ years leading complex software and hardware implementation solution development • 7+ years of experience with network systems and routing protocols 
• 7+ years of experience with network operating systems, virtualization platforms, VMWare and/or CItrix and/or Hyper-V. • 7+ years of Virtualized end user platforms and/or thin client technology • 5+ years of experience leading infrastructure security efforts • 5+ years of experience with Datacenter and infrastructure operations • Load balancing, software-defined networking, Network Access Control (NAC) • Experience with PCI and PII compliance

Educational Requirements:

Requirements include but may not be limited to the following:

• Bachelor’ s degree in Computer Science or a related field • Expert-level certification or well on track in at least one major infrastructure domain (ex. CCIE, VCDX, RHCE, CCE/CCP etc) • Professional-level certification in a second major infrastructure domain (ex. CCNP, VCPA, VCP, MCSE, CISSP/CEH, RHCA)

Requirements include but may not be limited to the following:

• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), including facilitation and team leadership skills • Must be comfortable working in ambiguous and/or stressful situations • Must be self-motivated and know when to seek guidance • Flexibility, ability to change priorities quickly, and capacity to handle multiple tasks • Ability to learn new tools and technologies • Ability to work independently and in a team  

Other Considerations: • Minimal travel required for this position • Minimal after hours required from time to time
