Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining existing corporate IT resources on various platforms; including hardware, operating systems, software upgrades, security patches, and virus protection when applicable

Essential Duties:

  • Sets priority, goals, and tasks with manager
  • Works independently with little guidance on priorities, goals, and tasks as well as the subject-matter expert (SME)
  • Provides assistance to the Linux I and Linux II team members
  • Works with other groups to coordinate, resolve, and/or implement solutions to new or existing problems
  • Responsible for maintaining existing corporate IT resources on various platforms
  • Ensure and maintain system availability
  • Implement changes utilizing a defined change management process
  • Experience working with enterprise platforms such as Red Hat, CentOS, and Ubuntu Linux operating systems
  • Setup and configure enterprise class server hardware from box to rack
  • Design and coordinate the installation of systems in a business-critical environment
  • Maintain and troubleshoot high availability systems in multiple Data Center locations
  • Develop and write systems and applications documentation
  • Support hardware decisions for upgrade requirements based on emerging software requirements in the best interest of the business
  • Determine system problems and coordinate hardware and/or software solutions
  • Implement security procedures and tools to ensure security measures are in place
  • This job will require evening, night, and weekend work in response to needs of the system being supported

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum five years’ experience working as a Systems Administrator, DevOps Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer in an enterprise environment
  • Minimum five years’ experience working as a Linux Systems Administrator in an enterprise environment
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a level 2 or above position in an enterprise environment
  • Performed in a senior or lead technical role
  • Passionate about learning new technology
  • Must have High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced scripting skills are a must; either Python or BASH
  • Intermediate MySQL/MariaDB skills
  • Exceptional communications skills and analytical aptitude with the ability to express technical concepts effectively, both verbal and in written form
  • Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
  • Solid networking and DNS diagnostic skills
  • Experience working with automation tools, especially SaltStack or Ansible
  • Experience working with SAN, VMware, and Dell Servers
  • Experience working with an installation environment, including Kickstart, Cobbler and PXE/TFTP
  • Experience with PowerDNS
