Job Description


The Senior Project Manager is a seasoned IT Project Manager experienced in the implementation of complex IT initiatives. This role will be responsible for the management and delivery of complex IT projects involving business applications and programs spanning multiple technologies, functions, departments, and divisions.


  • Prepare project documentation including Business Case to initiate project and authorize expenditure of corporate resources.
  • Perform resource planning for personnel, capital resources, software, and hardware needed to complete the project.
  • Develop and manage written project plans, including program schedules, resource plans, communication plans, and risk management plans.
  • Communicate project needs, goals, and milestones with appropriate IT Department Managers, Business Owners, Resource Management, Team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Drive program issues through to resolution.
  • Drive process improvement in the product development and delivery process.
  • Coordinate the activities of matrixed, cross-functional teams.
  • Concurrently manage multiple projects.
  • Ensure that project charters, meeting minutes, action items, and issues are documented and maintained, per IT Standards.
  • Manage change control procedures.
  • Participate in developing capital and operating budget projections and track costs in line with the existing plans.
  • Closely coordinate project activities with vendor resources. Lead vendor management activities such as setting objectives, managing project schedules and milestones, and managing the validation of vendor deliverables.
  • Participate and/or lead vendor contract negotiations by providing comments and deliverables for such documents as Master Services Agreements, Service Level Agreements, and Statements of Work.


Certification from the Project Management Institute or equivalent project management organization is preferred.

  • At least 5-10 years of professional experience, with 5 years of Project Management experience; must have served as Project Manager on at least 5 projects for the full project life cycle.
  • Experience working in large enterprise IT environments, with teams of matrixed resources.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Information Systems, or related field of study, or equivalent work experience.
  • Expert relationship management, stakeholder management, and business acumen skills.
  • Comfortable working on tight deadlines. Self-directed and highly motivated. Adept at juggling multiple complex projects with little or no daily supervision.
  • Ability to quickly learn new business environments, technical platforms, and application systems. Agile at moving from one environment to another quickly.
  • Team player with proven ability to manage teams, and have demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent English language skills including written and oral skills; superior ability to present to management and executive Steering Committee members.
  • Proficient in project planning and control techniques associated with planning and monitoring progress of projects. Examples: work breakdown structures, critical path analysis.
  • Proficiency in progress reporting, risk management, project management tools, scheduling, resource planning, and budget control.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools, as well as the Systems Implementation Life Cycle.
  • Extensive experience working closely with third-party vendors to implement COTS application systems, both in cloud/vendor-hosted environments and on-premise. Strong experience in managing vendor relationships and professional services engagements, and in integrating vendor applications with on-premise applications.
  • Ability to interpret business objectives and successfully align projects with those objectives.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence platforms is a plus.
