Our client in Irving is looking to add a Systems Engineering & Admin Manager. You will be responsible for the overall management of the company’ s primary systems including Voice, Network, Infrastructure, as well as, the Helpdesk and Systems Administration functions. You will also be responsible for planning and implementation of strategic initiatives supporting both corporate and commercial operations. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage configuration, administration, maintenance and upgrades for Corporate and Commercial servers and related infrastructure: 

o Active Directory 2012

o Exchange Online (Office 365) 

o Exchange 2016 (Hybrid On Prem)

o VMWare 6.7 o Nutanix Hyperconverged cluster

o Dell Storage o Veeam Backup / Restore

o Cisco Call Manager VoIP Phone System

o External Name Space (DNS)

o Microsoft System Center Operations Manager

o Azure / AWS cloud migration experience

• Manage corporate network, remote connectivity/VPN, and remote office connectivity.

• Procure all IT hardware and software— including technical evaluation and recommendations based on business needs and budgets.

• Manage computer hardware inventory for asset management, software compliance and licensing.

• Manage outsourced data center relationship and quality control thereof.

• Manage helpdesk activity and performance to ensure quality, responsiveness, prioritizing assignments, and help staff identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues.

• Assist in defining policies and procedures as they relate to these responsibilities.

• Responsible for IT architecture and operational management, servicing both corporate and commercial infrastructure that works under integrated and secure control.

• Responsible for deployment of highly available (HA) solutions supporting business needs and growth, such as, Databases (SQL Server, Oracle), Web, Application, Cluster, Backup & Restore.

• Management of current Storage infrastructure and future expansion as the business grows.

• Management of current Virtual Machine infrastructure and future expansion as the business grows.

• Knowledgeable of alternate solutions for expanding infrastructure with business needs, (such as leveraging both datacenter and cloud solutions).

• Plan, develop and document disaster recovery procedures for critical systems.  

• Interact with our user-base on an as needed basis regarding technology issues and escalations.

• Act as on-call Primary for emergencies as part of an escalation schedule.

• Ability to conceptualize, advocate, and sustain a highly available IT Infrastructure strategy by clearly articulating steps for maintaining uninterrupted commercial systems at a 99.9% or better up time.

• Implement and maintain Information Security policies and procedures.

• Create and maintain corporate server infrastructure documentation (hardware, software).

• Manage helpdesk activity and performance. Ensure quality and responsiveness is maintained by prioritizing tickets and mentoring staff in identification, diagnosis and resolving technical issues.

• Define policies and procedures with CIO as they relate to IT responsibilities.

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 • Bachelor’ s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience required

• 5+ years of experience as a manager in an operational role of Corporate IT for a mid to large size company and budgetary responsibilities.

• 8+ years of hands on System Engineering and Administration, Networking or Data Center operation and support experience, preferably in a Corporate IT role for a mid to large size company

• Extensive experience in a primarily Microsoft environment

• SharePoint, VMWare, Hyper-V Manager, Veeam Backup / Restore, Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).

• Windows Server 10/7/2008/2012/2016 OS

• Experience managing Active Directory, WINS, DHCP, IIS and DNS.

• Managing, monitoring and supporting high-availability environment with Windows Server and SQL Server clusters.

• Demonstrated experience in delivering consistent system administration and documentation to operational team, including feedback on system performance and service.

• Administering a Cisco-centric network environment with responsibility for managing Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewalls and AnyConnect VPN.

• Solid understanding of data communications, open systems technologies, and internet protocols including TCP/IP, FTP, TLS, HTTP, SNMP, SMTP.

• Strong understanding of hardware, security, SAN, and configuration management

• Direct involvement supporting, administering, and managing 24/7/365 production environments

• Advanced troubleshooting, problem solving, and critical thinking skills

• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences

• Strong leadership skills mixed with strong teamwork capability; flexibility

• Desired experience with Cisco Call Manager (CUCM)

• Desired 2008/2016 MCSE certification (Server Infrastructure, Private Cloud, SharePoint)
