Technical Writer

The senior technical communicator creates clear, concise documentation that describes various technical attributes of products and guides clients through the coding and configuration activities necessary to implement and operate those products. Technical communicators apply product-specific knowledge; use skills in graphic design, instructional design, writing, and editing; and utilize online resources (e.g., applications, databases, and test environments) to transform complex, unorganized, or unstructured data into useful, usable information. This work is conducted in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and typically involves extensive collaboration with teams and individuals 

• Identifying requirements, scoping and estimating the work, determining the timeline, and reporting progress to the project sponsor (usually the product manager/owner) 
• Managing every aspect of the daily work associated with a project 
• Conducting audience and task analyses 
• Creating the final content for client-facing documentation: 
 -Outline the proposed deliverable or indicate where existing deliverables will change 
-Conduct technical research 
-Create new content (text and graphics as appropriate) 
-Configure documents to create multiple outputs from a single source 
-Conduct quality checks, including technical reviews by development teams and other SMEs 
-Coordinate the formal approval process, including reviews by peer writers, the product manager/owner, and Legal & Compliance 

• Education - Bachelor’ s degree in Technical Communications, Professional Writing, English, or Journalism; or commensurate experience 
• Minimum # years’ experience required – 8- 10 years 
• Type of work experience required - Business Analysis, Project Management, Engineering, or Software Quality 
• Banking and Payments experience preferred 
• Proficient at writing impeccable content in U.S. English 
• Strong organizational, listening, and interpersonal skills 
• Self-starter; works well with minimal direction, consistently takes initiative to overcome obstacles and meet objectives 
• Experience with all aspects of the documentation development lifecycle 
• Strong grasp of industry tools for help development, desktop publishing, graphics, and word processing (team standards include Word, FrameMaker, Visio, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat) 
• Experience creating technical documentation in an Agile environment, 

The ideal candidate will also possess: 
• 15+ years of relevant technical writing experience 
• Master’ s degree in Technical Communications 
• Proficiency with SharePoint document repositories and Word templates 
• Personal, in-depth experience with the various categories of deliverables listed above
